From what I understand, FSX doesn’t have the “Autoland” feature (A feature that was apparently available in FS 2004). So, in FSX, it’s really difficult to autoland the aircraft using ILS. You must have the perfect speed, descent rate, altitude, etc. for the aircraft to touch down exactly at the runway. The ILS will help you line up the aircraft with the runway and descent to the “Decision Height.” Once you reach the decision height, you must disengage autopilot, and land the plane manually.
No!
The GPS will line you up with the runway, but you must switch to “Approach Mode” and have the proper frequency tuned into your Nav-1 radio, if you want to descent to DH via the glide slope. If you stay in the “GPS Mode” you won’t catch the glide slope and your aircraft won’t descent.
hi dude, i fly an b747-400 and i have a problem with the altitude hold switch because when i intercept the g/s, it supposed that the altitude switch disconnects automatically, but mines doesn’t do that, and i have to do it manually. what i’m doing wrong?
i set the nav 1, and all of those stuff correctly i think, but the altitude switch is the only problem that i have.
sorry for my english. i hope you could help me please. thanks!!
Your English is just fine!
Here are some tips:
-When you switch from the GPS mode to the Nav mode, make sure you also turn on the “APR” switch.
-Make sure you intercept the glide slope from below. If you fly over the glide slope, then you’ll miss it. Once you miss the interception, then the Alt Hold button will not be disengaged automatically.
Hope this helps!
thank you so much!! now i think that the problem could be because i dont intercept the g/s from below, but i’ll try it below 3000 feets.
thanks again! this tutorial helped me a lot to understand the ILS.
When you look at your “attitude mete” you will see two diamond shaped indicators. One is the horizontal indicator (known as the localizer) which shows whether or not you’re lined up with the runway, the other one is the perpendicular indicator (known as the glide slope). Make sure your altitude is below G/S indicator, once you switch to the Nav mode and turn on the APR switch.
It’s not the same, because in that case, KLAX is your destination. So you must find the ILS frequency corresponding to KLAX and tune it into your radio. The rest should be the same!
You have REX right?
Very very very very very very very nice video! Respect
What’s a REX?
whats the use of ils does it really make you land automatically?

Hello nice Vid. Can I just use the gps to line me up and take me to dession height? Without using the radio stack and stuff/
Thanks

Watch Part-2 of this video again. I have marked these indicators for you.
can you post a video that how it work in KSNA to KLAX please… i do that but its not the same as what you’ve done in KLAX to KSNA.
