Does GPS Work on iPad / iPhone Without Cellular Data?

well, the quick answer is yes, but the maps application is not the same. Does the GPS work on the ipad 3g+wifi without the carriers? Yes, with a limitation mentioned in the video
I use my jailbreak iPhone 3g on T-Mobile. I personally use the Navigon MyRegion app, works pretty good. Only problem is it drains the battery within 2-4 hours.
